Thank U

I am loving the new In Color Midnight Muse. To me it is a just right blend of Not Quite Navy and Night of Navy. Best of all it is perfect for masculine cards and for all the lovers of blue!

Today's card was super simple to make and it looks a little bit Western I think. I stamped the scalloped pennants directly on the cardstock and added the punched pieces of Vanilla cardstock with dimensionals. I was afraid the dimensionals would cost me an extra 20 cents at the post office but it got through. Yay!
Stamps: Pennant Parade
Ink: Midnight Muse
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Crumb Cake, Midnight Muse
Other: Big Shot, Perfect Polka Dots embossing folder, circle punch, sponge, dimensionals, Petite Pennant Builder Punch

We are counting down to the wedding this Saturday! Now if the weather will only cooperate!

Field Flower thank you

Well, my daughter's wedding is only 8 days away! She has been home since Sunday and we are getting lots done! We have been working on all kinds of crafty goodness and it has been sooooo much fun laughing, talking, and just enjoying each other. I have to remember to take pictures of everything we are making so I can share it on my blog.

My oldest daughter - the one who had the car accident - went to the doctor today for a check up. He x-rayed her and said she is progressing well. Yay! She continues to walk with a limp but that is getting better. Also, the doctor gave her the ok to drive but not to ride horses. As I wrote in a previous post, she is really anxious to get back in the saddle. But, she is happy to be driving again and has a new car! I will get to see her when she and our youngest daughter come for the wedding. Then I can see for myself how she is. :)
Die cutting, embossing, punches and some glitter went into this card to dress it up without adding bulk. I love this layout because it is so simple. The other thing I want to point out is the colors. They are all the new In Colors and so yummy!

Stamps: Field Flowers, Curly Cute
Cardstock: Whisper White, Gumball Green, Primrose Petals, Raspberry Ripple
Ink: Gumball Green, Raspberry Ripple, Primrose Petals

Have a creative day!

Fabulous florets thank you

In keeping with my desire to send cards without paying extra, I present today's thank you card.
To add a little bit of interest I stamped and cut out the flowers before adding them to the card front. Each flower was stamped before reinking so they are 1st, 2nd, and 3rd generation.

Interesting that the 2nd and 3rd have a visible variation in the amount of ink left on the stamp. That is because I used Primrose Petals ink which is a new In Color and the new style of ink pad that Stampin' Up! now sells. I am trying to get used to the "light touch" that is needed with these new ink pads! But when all is said and done I like the color variation in the flowers because it looks like they are shaded - more like real life!

Ink: Primrose Petals, Gumball Green

Happy Monday! Thanks for taking a peek.

Mixed Bunch thanks

I have had the stamp set, Mixed Bunch since it first made its debut in the Occasions Mini (I think) and just used it for the first time! I have no rational reason either.

Today's card is one I made last weekend using all new In Colors. I used this sketch from Clean and Simple challenges. I love her sketches and her style of stamping. And because this card was mailed, I tried to keep it as flat as possible. The center of the flower is popped up with a dimensional but fortunately the post office let it pass.

Stamps: Mixed Bunch, Fabulous Phrases, Distressed Dots background
Ink: Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit, Primrose Petals
Cardstock: Whisper White, Primrose Petals, Gumball Green, Summer Starfruit
Other: 1" circle punch, Big Shot, Adorning Accent Folder, Blossom Punch, 3/4" circle punch, dimensionals

I am enjoying the challenge of making a card visually interesting, satisfying to my creative side, all the while keeping it bump free so it will not cost extra at the post office!

Have a great weekend.

Countryside thanks

This is another simple thank you I made. My inspiration was this work of art found here! I soo want to try another larger scale image when I get time.
Because I was making alot of different thank you cards, I made this one pretty simple. There are no embellishments because it got mailed. It actually went to my future son-in-law because he was such a huge help with our daughter during her accident. He is definitely a keeper!

The cardstock and ink used on this card is one of the new In Colors: Midnight Muse. It isn't as dark as Night of Navy or as yellowish as Not Quite Navy. It really is a lovely shade of blue and is perfect for masculine cards.

Stamps: Countryside, Kindness Matters
Paper: First Edition dsp
Ink: Black Stazon, Midnight Muse (In Color)
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Midnight Muse (In Color)
Other: corner rounder, aquapainter

My daughter is getting a little better each day. She is frustrated because she walks with a limp and continues to feels pain when walking. That, and the fact she can't ride horses till mid September makes her a little cranky. Lol. The accident was only 2 weeks ago so we think she is doing great! But she wants to be be completely better now!

Thanks for checking in.

Update and a thank you card

Thank you sooo much for the kind words and prayers regarding my daughter's car accident. It blessed me and my family very much!

Update on my daughter: She continues to make great progress! She can bear weight on her leg without pain, can go up and down the stairs by hanging onto the rail, and is trying to walk which she said she can do but not without pain and a huge limp so she uses crutches when she needs too. I wish I could see her for myself but I have to wait till she comes here for the wedding. Her sisters told me she is doing great though! Now we are just praying for a "new" car for her. Our biggest concern is that she won't get ripped off.

Today I determined I was going to set aside the afternoon and stamp thank you cards! They aren't my most creative because I have alot to make. :) The one I am showing you today is for my neighbor. She graciously collected our mail and newspapers and looked after our dear, sweet cat until we got home.
I added a button because it will be hand delivered. I refuse to pay that extra 20 cents if I don't have to. Lol.

Stamps: Nature Walk, Curly Cute
Ink: Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Cajun Craze, Early Espresso, Crumb Cake
Other: Big Shot, Adorning Accents Folder, sponge, twine (retired), Button, Mini Glue dot, sponge, Color spritzer tool, aquapainter

Thanks for stopping by. And thanks again for your comments and concern.

Another set back

This has not been a good summer for blogging. It has been one thing after another, mostly wedding stuff. But the latest is by far the worst.

David and I were in Pennsylvania last week when we got one of those phone calls every parent dreads. Our oldest daughter was in a 1 car auto accident out in Ohio where she lives with her 2 sisters. Our middle daughter called us from the hospital (fortunately she was home and able to rush over there) to let us know.

Thud went our hearts. Heavenward went our prayers.

After Xrays and a Cat Scan, the doctor found a hairline fracture in her pelvis. Fortunately the fracture is in a spot that heals quickly but will require time. Fortunately she had on her seat belt! And fortunately her sisters were there at the hospital so she was not alone. But she needed her mom and dad so we immediately headed to Ohio.

This is a picture of her Honda Civic, now totaled.
She wasn't using her phone or speeding. She just went off the side of a country road, couldn't get back on, and before she knew it, she hit some trees and a guard rail.

We are back in Massachusetts now. I didn't want to leave until I was sure she could manage crutches or walker so our last day there she was able to shower with help and use a walker. Each day she shows improvement and today was her first pain free day.

We are so thankful for all of the people who have reached out to our family in so many different ways. The prayer support has been incredible and much needed. Needless to say I am going to be needing lots of thank you cards so hopefully I can get to that soon! Don't worry I will be posting them.

New In Color Summer Starfruit

I haven't had much time to try out the new In Colors for this year even though I have had them on my craft table for a while. I love Raspberry Ripple and Primrose Petals which I knew I would because I gravitate to the red/pink family. The color that intrigued me the most was Summer Starfruit. I had to look up Star fruits, aka Carambola, because I had never heard of them. Here is a link if you want to see a picture. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carambola

The In Color is pretty, and different. It has a greenish cast to it but is more yellow than green. It will be fun to experiment with different color combinations. For today's card I used Chocolate Chip.

Stamps: Creative Elements, Curly cute
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Summer Starfruit, Chocolate Chip
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Summer Starfruit
Other: Antique Brad

I have tons to do so if you don't hear from me in a few days, that is why.
