Another set back

This has not been a good summer for blogging. It has been one thing after another, mostly wedding stuff. But the latest is by far the worst.

David and I were in Pennsylvania last week when we got one of those phone calls every parent dreads. Our oldest daughter was in a 1 car auto accident out in Ohio where she lives with her 2 sisters. Our middle daughter called us from the hospital (fortunately she was home and able to rush over there) to let us know.

Thud went our hearts. Heavenward went our prayers.

After Xrays and a Cat Scan, the doctor found a hairline fracture in her pelvis. Fortunately the fracture is in a spot that heals quickly but will require time. Fortunately she had on her seat belt! And fortunately her sisters were there at the hospital so she was not alone. But she needed her mom and dad so we immediately headed to Ohio.

This is a picture of her Honda Civic, now totaled.
She wasn't using her phone or speeding. She just went off the side of a country road, couldn't get back on, and before she knew it, she hit some trees and a guard rail.

We are back in Massachusetts now. I didn't want to leave until I was sure she could manage crutches or walker so our last day there she was able to shower with help and use a walker. Each day she shows improvement and today was her first pain free day.

We are so thankful for all of the people who have reached out to our family in so many different ways. The prayer support has been incredible and much needed. Needless to say I am going to be needing lots of thank you cards so hopefully I can get to that soon! Don't worry I will be posting them.

Oh, my goodness, how very lucky she was that she wasn't more seriously injured. The good Lord was watching over her for sure.
Thoughts and prayers go out to your daughter that she has a quick and speedy recovery

WOW! So sorry to hear about your daughter! What a terrible feeling to be away from our children when they need us most. With the extensive damage to her car, she is very lucky to only have a fractured pelvis. Best wishes for a speedy recovery ... for all of you!

Wow! So glad she's okay! I think I drove that car for 10 years so that hits home. Mine was a 1998 and actually just got stolen from Western PA last month.

Oh My! It is so heart wrenching to hear this. I do know what it is like to get that call. She definitely had God watching over her. Thankfully, as you say her sisters were there with her immediately and you were able to get there soon! This type of thing tends to make us stop and look at life a little differently, usually making us more thankful for all that we take for granted most of the time.
So thankful she will be ok with time and healing. Thoughts and prayers go out to all of you.

Lisa, I am praying for your daughter, and I'm very happy to hear you were able to be with her right away; and I'm hopeful you will be available to her as different emotions arise for her.

I will say a prayer tonight for your daughter. My daughter just had a baby 3 weeks ago and had gall bladder surgery this afternoon. I'm in Mississippi for the second time in less than 2 weeks. I do know what you mean about the phone calls!

Praise the Lord that she was not more seriously injured. I know that fear all to well. We have been through this same experience.

This is every parents nightmare. So glad your daughter is safe and prayers for a speedy recovery. My oldest was sideswiped (no major damage) and then a few weeks later rear-ended by an off duty polic officer. Once all that was settled and we got him another vehicle he was hit head on by a driver who ran a stop light. And at these moments you can't get to them quick enough to hold them to really believe they are okay. After the third accident I told him I was going to buy him a tank!
