Too Early for Snowflakes?

Maybe it is too early for snowflakes falling from the sky, at least here in Massachusetts, but it's definitely not too early for snowflakes on a card!

I haven't done a Mojo Monday challenge in a long time so I checked it out and found a wonderful, simple sketch this week. It can be found by clicking HERE. And... I have been wanting to play with the new Northern Flurry Textured Impressions Embossing Folder and the new Northern Frost decorative strip (Big Shot) so this was my chance.
There is lots going on with this card so bear with me! Remember my Aviary card, found HERE, where I came up with the idea to use a tag made with the Two Tags Bigz die as a mat? Well I did that again with today's card only I turned the tag upside down! So the white mat behind my stamped image in today's card is really a tag!

Once I turned the tag upside down I didn't know what to do with the hole in the bottom (which would really be the top), so I added a punched oval and a Glimmer Brad. I love how that turned out.

Now for the main image I stamped my snowflake from the stamp set, Serene Snowflakes using Versamark. I then embossed it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and sponged Baja Breeze ink right over the embossed image. To balance the red Glimmer Brads and the red in the designer paper, I also sponged just a little bit of Cherry Cobbler ink - sort of a sunrise look. You know the saying, "red sky in the morning, sailor's take warning". Well in this case the red sky meant snow. Ha!

The Candy Cane Christmas designer paper used for the background was embossed with the Northern Flurry textured impressions embossing folder (tief) and then adhered to the card front.

And finally I added a multi layered snowflake that I put together using the Northern Frost decorative strip and a small circle that I punched out after it was stamped. The sentiment, Merry, is from the Tiny Tags stamp set and fit perfectly in the circle!

All the supplies are Stampin' Up!
Stamps: Serene Snowflakes and Tiny Tags
Paper: Baja Breeze, White cardstock
Candy Cane specialty designer paper (Holiday Mini)
Ink: Versamark, Cherry Cobbler, Baja Breeze
Accessories: Big Shot, Two Tags bigz die, 3/4" circle punch, Large Oval punch,
Corner Rounder punch, White Taffeta Ribbon, sponges, Iridescent Ice Embossing Powder
Northern Flurry tief and Northern Frost decorative strip (Holiday Mini)
                     Glimmer Brads (Holiday Mini)

Well if you read through all of that, thanks for bearing with me! I have some more projects to show you  this week. In the meantime, happy stamping.
