From the Past

This is a card that I did a while ago but am just posting it now. And sorry it is a little out of focus.
I am really into these colors right now. I guess they speak "spring" to me. And it seems I was in the retired product mood again cause the stamp set and designer series paper are from last year's Stampin' UP! catalog. But I really like how it came out! It is pretty straight forward except I did stamp and color the flower several times, then cut out pieces and layered it for depth. The "dots" in the corners, and on the flowers are pearl paint that comes in those little squeeze bottles. Be sure to set it aside to dry tho cause it will smear. Trust me!

Have a great week!

Hostess Thank You!

This was a really fun card to make! For one thing, the hostess is a really fun gal and for another thing, I love the colors: Barely Banana, Certainly Celery and Regal Rose!

I didn't use the faux copic technique (see previous post) but instead used the more traditional way of watercoloring. I.E. using the ink pads and an aqua painter. It doesn't come out nearly as vibrant but I still liked the way it looks.

The rest of the card includes the following:
All supplies Stampin' Up!

Stamp Set: Flower for all seasons
Cardstock and ink: Regal Rose, Certainly Celery, Barely Banana, Creamy Caramel and Bashful Blue, and watercolor paper
Stazon ink
Designer specialty paper: Delicate Dots from the Sale-a-bration mini catalog
Accessories: Eyelet punch, 5/8" Regal Rose Grosgrain Ribbon, the new White Brads, aquapainter, dimensionals, and a white rub-on from Chit Chat Rub-ons

This is the card with a peek on the inside. I had some extra designer paper and an extra strip of eyelet so I added it to the bottom of the inside.
So that is everything.

Thanks for looking,

Lisa

Card Tote I CASED

I saw a version of this card tote on Splitcoast Stampers and decided I would like to try to recreate it since it had tons of possibilities as a gift. I am not even sure if the original was meant for cards! So I went to work figuring out how to make my own version. It was alot of fun and I was really pleased with the results!

So this is the front. The back is the same only minus the embellishments and the tab that closes it. I revamped the closure to include magnets. I hid one between the paper and cardstock on the front and then added another to the inside of the tab.

This is the box opened. You can see the magnet on the tab.

This is the other side of the open tote. The cards, envelopes, whatever, fit into the compartment and then when the tote is closed, the tab fits throught the slot and the magnets keep it shut!

Here is what it looks like from the side - minus the cards, envelopes, etc. inside.

Again, I am trying to use up that retired designer paper so this is from the Fall/Winter catalog.

Stamp Set: Yummy from the Sale-a-bration catalog

Cardstock and Markers: Bashful Blue, So Saffron, Certainly Celery and Rose Red

Ink: Bashful Blue and So Saffron
Punches: Scalloped Border punch, 1 1/4" circle punch and 3 Flower punch

Accessories: Bashful Blue Striped ribbon, brads, paper piercer for the scalloped border

I hope you like it!

More Sale-A-Bration

The template for this is another Stampin' Up! offering. The original version is only "one-sided". I made 2 totes and sticky taped them together, added cardstock/designer paper and embellished!

I am trying to use up retired designer series paper and this is leftover from the fall/winter catalog. I love the colors and thought it would make a nice cheery tote!

The embellishments are purely Sale-a-bration stamp sets.
Polka Dot Punches stamp set
Yummy stamp set

I stamped the images with the Polka Dot Punch Stamp set and then used the coordinating punches to punch them out. So cool but then I do love my punches! I added the centers by punching a 1/2" circle and adding a brad to the middle.

The tag was made by using the Yummy stamp set and unfortunately there is no coordinating punch so I had to cut it by hand which was easy enough to do.

Cardstock, Ink, and Markers: So Saffron, Rose Red and Certainly Celery
Punches: 1 3/4" circle punch, Scallop Circle Punch, 1/2" circle punch, 1 1/4" circle punch and 5-Petal flower punch
Accessories: brads and various ribbon
Hope you are enspired to Stamp!!

Sale-A-Bration celebration

One of the (many) things I love about Stampin' Up! is their monthly magazine just for us demonstrators. It is full of informative articles, samples, and ideas! This Hinge Card was one of the ideas from the March issue. I thought it was so adorable and so easy!
I demonstrated this last night to a super cool group of stampers.

All supplies Stampin' Up
Stamp sets: A Flower For All Seasons
Congrats (Sale-A-Bration)
Cardstock - white, Certainly Celery and Barely Banana and Watercolor paper
Ink: Stazon
Markers: Bashful Blue and Ballet Blue; More Mustard and Barely Banana; Old Olive and Certainly Celery; Creamy Caramel
Brads, Eyelet Punch, Brocade Blue 5/8" ribbon

It is made with a 1/4 sheet of cardstock as the base - I chose white.
Then the 2 "top" pieces are attached with a brad and only the bottom portion is adhered to the white cardstock. This allows the top portion to swing up and down. I added a little tab to the top so it would be easier to swing open.
The technique I demonstrated was faux copic markers. Use a good quality of watercolor paper (a must!) and begin with the darkest marker first filling in shadows. Then go over that with the lighter marker and blend until the color lifts and bleeds.
Now the colors of the card open and card closed look different because of my photoshop skills, not because of a difference in markers, ribbon, etc. In real life, they look the same!

This was one of the make and takes. It fits in a letter size envelope - not the business size - but the smaller one (A 10??)
stamp set CHEEP TALK.
Cardstock: Almost Amethyst, Apricot Appeal and white
Ink: Almost Amethyst, Certainly Celery and Apricot Appeal
Paper: Delicate Dots (Sale-A-Bration)
Ribbon: Apricot from the ribbon bundle in Sale-A-Bration
Pretties Kit - Large flower and pearl
The 2nd make and take.
Stamp Set is Botanical Blossoms from Sale-A-Bration
Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal and White
Ink: Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal and Bashful Blue
Paper is Delicate Dots designer paper from Sale-a-Bration
Celery Ribbon from Sale-A-Bration
White Button, glue dots, vanilla hodgepodge and glitter
Thanks for stopping by!

Had to do something!

So I made this (in triplicate). And sorry it is out of focus.

After the aforementioned flight to Florida got cancelled/rescheduled, I had to pass the time somehow! So I decided to make something to take with me for each of my daughters. I know they love candy, especially the Reese's Peanut Butter Eggs that are in stores now. And I threw in some Jelly Beans for good measure.

I picked my color scheme based on the jelly bean colors and the designer series paper left over from last year!

Here is what it looks like from the top.

Again - sorry it is out of focus. The top flower is made with one of Stampin' Up!'s die cut flowers in Pumpkin Pie plus a rub-on flower over that. I then added 2 punched circles to the center.

All products are Stampin' Up! except the candy.

Stamp Set: Yummy - Sale-a-bration 2009
Cardstock: Taken with Teal, Rose Red, Old Olive, Pumpkin Pie
Markers: Pumpkin Pie, Rose Red, Taken With Teal
Punch: 1" circle punch for the front of the box

I made the box template myself from a piece of 8 1/2 x 11" cardstock. After it was scored and assembled I added layers of Rose Red and designer series paper to the sides and top. For the ribbon, I used my hobby blade and cut slits in the top along the seams. I could then thread the ribbon through and around. The flower covers up where the 2 ends meet.

For the saying I used markers to add 3 colors to the image, then stamped and cut it out.

Hope you like it. Hope my girls like it. Hope I get to Florida soon!!!

Are You Serious????

This is what we woke up to this morning.

And this. Note: Yes, that is a Christmas wreath on my door. I like to see how long I can leave it there before it falls apart. Just kidding - the last part anyway cause it really is a Christmas wreath.

We are supposed to be in sunny Florida (she cried in frustration)! Yes, that is correct. My husband and I were supposed to fly out early this am to meet 2 of our 3 daughters in Florida - spring break for them. He and I took the week off and have been so looking forward to warm weather and sunshine. Then the "Big One" was on its way and our flight was cancelled. Rats. Then the "Big One" hit and we got pounded with snow and drifts.
But - the good news is that we were put on another flight Tuesday a.m., so what with a layover and all, we should be reunited with our kiddos about 1:00pm tomorrow. Yeah!! And our 3rd daughter will be flying down on Wednesday night. Family reunion!

In the meantime, David shoveled the drive and I stamped! I tried to help him but I had previously pulled a muscle in my side (3 weeks ago no less) from coughing so hard, and shoveling was not an option if I wanted to be pain free this week. I will show you later what I stamped.

So that's my story.
