...for a special lady who just turned 90 years old! That's right, you read correctly. 90 years old. And, she is one of my favorite stamping customers - yep she stamps - and she stamps pretty darn good! I love to use her as an example of how stamping is an art that can enrich the lives of all people of all ages. Now granted you would never know she is that old but still!!
I made this card especially for her. I wanted something, pastel and feminine so I came up with this. Some of you may recognize the hydrangea stamp from many years back. I have always loved it because hydrangeas remind me of Cape Cod (I love Cape Cod) and I know my 90 year old stamping friend enjoys Cape Cod too.
So. I stamped my hydrangea on white with white craft ink and embossed it with white embossing powder. Then I "painted" it with ink and water and an aquapainter. Now I knew I would be cutting it out so I just slopped the ink around, not caring if I went out of the embossed lines. Then once it dried I cut it out and added dots of glitter here and there.
Another cool trick I did was this. I wanted Almost Amethyst satin ribbon but we don't sell that color so I put a small amount of water in a dish, added some Almost Amethyst reinker and mixed it up. Then I added a length of ribbon and dyed it! After it dried I was a little disappointed to see that it looked more like the color of Lavender Lace but it still blended really well with the colors of the hydrangea! Can't wait to try other colors!
Other details include paper piercing around the sides of the Almost Amethyst cardstock, dimensionals to pop up the cardstock and the flower, and small half pearls from the Pretties set. The saying is also embossed with white. Oh and you can see a lace border peeking out from under the dyed ribbon- this was done with the lace border punch.
